How do I market my business for free

  1. Make content for them first, last for you.

The reason social media doesn’t work for business owners is that they tend to skew content overly about the product or the service. Let me tell you some secret: No one likes to be sold, people like to buy.

Entertain 3 posts, promote your product in 1 post. That way your page is now more of a content page than a product page. Why entertain, you may ask? People open social media apps mostly when they are bored. Unlike browsing on amazon, people are not in the buying mode while they’re on a social media app. 

So give them what they want first, then ask. Social media can bring a lot of awareness to your business and get you sales, but it’s a slow process.

If you want immediate sales, you should run ads. That’s the best way if you want “fast” results. This post is about “getting attention for free”.

So is there no way of getting attention for free fast enough? Like in a day? There are, but it may demand more effort in terms of creating captivating content. 

You can try short form content like reels and shorts and get instant attention but there are two conditions you must fulfill. One is the short form content is engaging, so people like the content and the algorithm distributes your content. The second one is the relevance of the content. How relevant is the content to your products?

This is where I would use the Spread Method, where your content spreads multiple categories. For instance, if you’re selling clothes, you need not straight away start the content with a cloth, in fact, if anything, you should show it last or do not show at all.

Lets randomly pick an entertainment oriented content, like a skit, or a scene that is irrelevant to your products, because that’s what we are doing here. You should make content around entertainment, only 10% of the time you become the actual business. 

Will this work? Of course, because when they want more of what they saw, they will follow your page, they will see whatever and wherever you post.

If they follow you, they are going to see your stories on instagram, even if they followed you from Reels. Whoever owns attention wins. 

Now, the important part, how to come up with content that people like to see more of? You take your best content format and style, including visuals, and even your single best content topic, change the angle slightly, now it’s a different piece of content – epiphany  moment – and now you have a lot of content topics.

Let me show you exactly how it works. Let’s say I have your clothing business. Now I assume that the clothing is for 20 year olds and not 40 year olds, so Instagram makes sense. 

Now I set up my page, bio, logo, 0 posts right now.

First I attack the reels, because it’s the instant reach area inside instagram. 

I start the process of creating reels. I decide what type of reel, the topic, the format, the visual style, whether real people are in the frame or it’s just an animation style kind of reel, etc.

You post your first reel. No views.

You post your second reel. 12 views.

You post the third, 112 views.

Now here’s the secret: You don’t need to come up with new ideas for every new reel. People are not waiting there to say “You posted this already, post new”. NO. All they want is a different version of the same thing. You change the angle of the reel, now it’s automatically a new reel. That’s how people make content without running out of ideas. 

Now you’re successful in your reel journey, every reel you post gets you followers, likes, etc.

Now how do you get sales?

You create an irresistible offer. Now you don’t want to sound like a fake business, just a real offer that would benefit the customer first, then you. 

You can always have your profits in the upsells, no issues. 

Also there should be something unique to your clothing business, right? Something that’s worth the purchase, designs that are affordable, quality that’s unmatched for the price, some unique attributes that separates you from other clothing businesses.

Remember, when you have attention, you can sell whatever you want. So first attention, then business.

Actually I can use this method for myself. I think I just said some really fantastic strategy and information that can really get you sales for free. If you try any other method, it will cost you. You give what they want, you get what you want. It’s like that.
